A container is a large vessel with certain strength, rigidity and specifications exclusively for circulation. When using the container, the user can load the cargo at the warehouse of the consigner and unload the cargo at the warehouse of the consignee without taking the cargo out of the container during truck and ship transferring on the way.
According to the regulations stipulated by No.104 Technical Committee of International Organization for Standardization (ISO for short), the container should meet the following conditions:
(1) Repeated use in a long term and enough strength;
(2) Direct transshipment without moving the cargo in the container;
(3) Rapid loading and unload and direct and easy transferring from one transportation means to another.
(4) Convenient cargo filling and container emptying;
(5) Containment with 1 cubic meter (35.32 cubic feet) or above. The large cargo loading vessel meeting the above 5 conditions can be called as a container.
