The container’s overall external dimensions, which include the container’s maximal external length, width and height with permanent accessories included, are the main parameters to decide whether the container can be transferred between ships, chasis trucks, wagons and railway vehicles. These dimensions are important technical data to be mastered by the transportation departments.
The container’s internal dimensions include the container’s maximal internal length, width and height. The height is the distance from the board surface at the bottom of the container to the down most roof board; the width referees to the distance between two inside liner plates; and the length refers to distance from the inside plate of the container door to the end inside liner plate. They decide the container’s bale capacity and the maximal size of the cargo in the container.
The container’s cargo capacity can be calculated according to its internal dimensions. The bale capacities of the containers with the same specifications vary slightly due to different structures and manufacturing material. The container’s bale capacity is the important technical data to be mastered by materials department or other packaging stuff.
